Message from the Vice Chancellor of Vivekananda Yoga Research Foundation (SVYASA), Dr. H.R.Nagendra (Guruji) on the occasion of the bagging Karnataka Rajyotsava award for SVYASA. Guruji, a humble Sanyasi who quit his high profile NASA job as a scientist and plunged into the field of yoga 35 years ago, and here is a wonderful organization providing yeomen service to humanity in the field of Yoga and its Medical applications, taking health care to the next level.

As you may be aware, the major achievements of VYASA this year(2010) in Prashanti are

• We have been supported for infrastructural development by Dept of AYUSH to the tune fo nealry 4 crores including our contribution. We have built 2 small lecture halls, very nature friendly, 2 auditorium and a new Surabhi: naturopathy and Ayurveda treatment block inaugurated by our CM a few months ago
• Our cancer care center as an extension has come up and informally inaugurated on Vijayadashami day


• We crossed the 150 mark of the number of publications published in indexed journals


• Our I JOY has now raised to PubMed status the frist and the only Journal on Yoga to get this distinction


• We got ISO 9001 certification for S-VYASA


• We are readying for our NAAC inspection by the end of November


• Our collaboration with MDACC on Yoga and Breast Cancer has yielded an NIH grant of $ 5 Million for 5 years.


• We got good grant of about a Crore from DST for Cognitive research


• We have been approved for a big grant of 20 Crores by the Dept of AYUSH the first ever biggest grant for Yoga and Ayurveda. We need to match their contribution of 10 Crores which is on the anvil to get. It is on 4 diseases - DM. CAD, Depression and Parkinson. We hope to get many patents, very good research papers in high impact journals, etc


• We successfully organised the first international conference on Total Health- research perspectives on Modern medicine, Yoga Therapy and Ayureda in Orlando on one hand and Yoga and Cancer conference in Singapore.
• The latest is the Karnataka Rajyotsava award to VYASA on 1st nov.at 6 pm in Ravindra Kalakshetra in Bangalore city today on the Rajyotsava day of the State


• We have built a small dhyana Mandapam in the memory of our dear lakshmi aunty who left her body an year back on November 3rd


• Last but not the least, the epicenter of prasahnthi , the arogyadhama.we now have a beautiful and international standard ( the best today) naturopathy center; The Ayurveda panchakarma center has expanded and already acquired the status that it is better than the best in India - Kottakkal. So under one roof, you will get modern medicine, Yoga therapy, naturopathy and Ayurveda which you will find nowhere in India and so in the world !
