For immediate release - August 28th 2002
Prepared by - Annapurna Reddigari

August 24th was one of those beautiful Saturdays here in Pleasanton. The Pleasanton Public Library indeed is a pleasant and friendly place. This was the perfect venue for Yoga Bharati to spread the word of peace and calm among the 15 people who attended the Yoga workshop on Stress Management.
The workshop started at 10:00 AM with a tape on Stress Management by Swami SukhaBodhananda. The instructors were Sri Mahendra Singh and Sri Uday Kiran. Sri Mahendra Singh started off with HRE( Health Rejuvenating Exercises.) These exercises, while giving a massage to internal organs like stomach, liver, pancreas, etc., also stimulated each part of the body from head to toe. These were followed by more asanas helpful in relieving the tensed up parts and activating the usually unused parts, like heels, toes, etc.
After the relaxing Shavasana , everyone got to meditate for sometime. Sri Mahendra Singh was lively, nimble, brisk, encouraging, and humorous, that everyone was laughing by the end of yogasanas.
Then there was a brief intermission, when everyone got to mingle and munch on snacks
After the Break
Sri Uday Kiran gave an informative talk on physiology of the nervous system vs. stress. When accumulated, stress manifests itself as illness like asthma. Practicing yogasanas will attack at root level and over a period of time eliminates the illness.
Finally the session ended with a cheerful vote of thanks from Sri Navin Rao, a Yoga Bharati volunteer.
