The idea of practicing yoga on the mat is to be in the Yogic state, even when we are off the mat, engaging in daily life. A yogi contemplates during sadhana and achieves self-awareness. One incorporates this awareness into everyday life, to achieve lasting happiness.
A yogi stands on a mat in Trikonasana or Triangle pose giving a deep stretch to the body. Yet, he is relaxed internally, with a smile on his face. Life is full of tension and stress. During a yogasana, body is in tension, but mind is relaxed. Similarly, life is full of tension, but can we still smile as we do on the mat?
Do you practice yoga? Please do.
